Word and Deed August 5, 2016 - Jeremiah 33:3

Jeremiah 33:3:  “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you do not know.”

In my walk of faith this verse of Scripture shines as a light of hope on my path.  Every day we are presented with challenges. Throughout the day we react to those challenges sometimes good, sometimes not so well. How we respond or deal with people and circumstances reflects the fruits of the Spirit in us.

There is a reality that our Creator knows more and can show us how to navigate each challenge, each day with not only helping but doing the least amount of damage.

In the early 1970’s there was a television series called “Kung Fu”.  Every episode starts with an introduction, a mosaic of snapshots displaying a lesson to be learned.  The one pertinent to me at the moment shows a young student asked to walk a length of rice paper without tearing it.

Even though he walked barefooted, with great care, at the end of his walk he looks back upon the length of rice paper finding it badly torn by each footstep.

Later in the series after time and training he is given another chance to again demonstrate his skills of stealth.  As he completes his walk upon the rice paper, he turns to find no tears, rips or damage from his passing. This feat is accomplished only through the master – disciple or teacher - student relationship, listening, learning, and training.

Having the Creator show us how to pass through His creation without leaving a wake of damage is the very promise: “call to Me and I will answer” the very real relationship of teacher – student, master – disciple, listening, learning and training.
